Smart camera technology can help in detecting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Already in 2013, ViNotion, the Eindhoven University of Technology and Cyclomedia, with guidance from TNO, have succesfully showed this to the Dutch military in a first feasibilty study. Recently, ViNotion, the TU/e and TNO have demonstrated an improved system for countering IED, which is based on 3D geometry using a custom-made stereo camera.
